The procedure takes about 30 minutes. Some things you can do to prepare for botox is to avoid medications that stop platelets from working, such as Aspirin, Aleve, and Ibuprofen for 2 days prior, and to avoid drinking more than one alcoholic beverage the night before your botox.

Most patients need 40+ units to treat their upper face. Some patients who have had neurotoxins injected within the last 3 months, or who have smaller muscles may need less botox. Higher doses oftentimes allow botox & xeomin to last longer.
Botox has helped many patients with migraines, headaches and TMJ lead more full lives! In the current age of increased computer use and eye strain, placing botox in the upper face can decrease the strain placed on muscles that oftentimes are responsible for producing headaches. Botox is incredible for the treatment of TMJ when utilized properly.
There aren’t enough clinical studies performed on pregnant or breastfeeding women to demonstrate safety in this population. For this reason, it is recommended that pregnant and breastfeeding women do not receive botox unless they have determined with their physicians that benefits of injection outweigh any risk.
There are side effects to too much botox, however, this tends to occur when greater than 300 units of botox are injected in a 3 month period.
Botox can wear off faster in patients who are skinner, who exercise frequently, have fast metabolism, and who engage in hot yoga. Botox has been known to last longer when zinc supplements are included in patient’s diets, and when peptide based skin care is combined with botox injectables. Botox can also last longer when patients receive certain hydrafacial boosters.
